Brief Biography
Chia-Hung Kuo is a professor in department of seafood science, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. He joined National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology as an assistant professor in Aug. 2015. Also, he was an associate professor in college of tea and food science of Wuyi University, China (2013-2015) and an adjunct assistant professor in school of health diet and industry management of Chung Shan Medical University (2012-2013). He underwent postdoctoral training at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (2009-2010) working with Prof. Cheng-Kang Lee and National Chung Hsing University (2010-2013) working with a biocatalysis pioneer - Prof. Chwen-Jen Shieh.
Chia-Hung Kuo was born in a poor family. Through hard work, he received his BS degree (1997) in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and master degree (1999) in food science and technology from National Taiwan University. After serving two years in the army, he worked at everlight chemical industrial Co. as an engineer for three years. In 2005, he went to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to pursuit his Ph. D. degree in chemical engineering and completed in 2009. After serving at NKUST, the second largest university in Taiwan. He has received several awards including the Outstanding New Teacher Award (2016), Outstanding Research Award (2018), and Special Outstanding Research Talent Award (2018–2022). He has published over 70 international SCI papers, 8 books or book chapter, and 3 patents. His H-index is 26 with more than 2000 citations. He also serves as Topical Advisory Panel Member for Catalysts, and International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and as Guest Editor of Special Issues in Catalysts, and Sustainability. His main research interests focus on process biochemistry, biocatalysis, food engineering, food analysis, extraction, oil and fat processing, and fermentation biotechnology.
